Microsoft Power Automate enables the creation of process automations, connecting apps and removing time consuming manual processes.

Delivered by Richard Ashby, TSG Solution Architect; this full day workshop will start with planning through to the creation of an automation.

You'll be able to get hands-on with the technology to kick off your automation building journey.

Sessions Detail

The agenda for the day is as follows::
Session 1 (morning): Core Concepts & Practical Applications
  • Introduction to Power Automate – Overview, when to use it, types of flows.
  • Creating a Flow in an Environment – Setting up and managing flows.
  • Solutions & Connectors – Why use solutions, common connectors (Dataverse, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Flow Control & Logic – Avoiding infinite loops, Apply to Each, Do Until, Switch statements.
  • XrmToolBox & Considerations – Overview of key tools but with a strong caution: certain tools can make irreversible changes, and users should not experiment without understanding their impact.
  • Error Handling & Scopes – Configure Run After, handling failures, and using scopes.
  • Advanced Data Handling – Expand Queries, JSON, and PowerFx expressions.


Session 2 (afternoon): Advanced Topics & Real-World Scenarios
  • Child Flows & App Integration – Why use child flows, integrating with model-driven and canvas apps.
  • Webhooks & External Integrations – Action buttons, HTTP actions, and external service connections.
  • Real-World Scenarios & Q&A – Open discussion on challenges, best practices, and practical use cases.

David is TSG’s Head of People Development and Microsoft Training and has been with the business for over 10 years. He has worked in learning and development for over 20 years, and looks after our internal people development needs, as well as working with our customers to deliver Microsoft training to their people and teams.
